MBB Head Coach, Brock Morris, Accepts New Position at the University of Louisiana

Brock Morris is leaving his position as the head men's basketball coach for the Daytona State College Falcons. Morris has accepted a position on Coach Bob Marlin's staff at the University of Louisiana. During his lone season at the helm of the Falcon program Morris lead Daytona State to 25 wins, a conference tournament title, and the best team GPA in school history. Six players were named to the Mid Florida All-Conference team, including conference player of the year Khadim Sy. Dou Gueye was named the Mid Florida Conference scholar athlete of the year. The Falcons had six players sign division one scholarships: Bryce Williams and Khadim Sy (Ole Miss), Corbin Merritt (Oklahoma), Durey Cadwell and Dou Gueye (Louisiana), and Harwin Francois (Southern Illinois). The Falcons spent (17) weeks ranked in the National NJCAA Top 25 poll and qualified for the NJCAA Region 8 tournament.

"Coach Morris did a very good job for us this past year and this was an opportunity that he simply couldn't pass on.  We appreciate his work on behalf of our students and the men's basketball program.  We wish him and his family nothing but the best moving forward and look for him to continue his success with ULL and beyond," stated Will Dunne, DSC athletic director.

Coach Morris on his departure, "Daytona State is a special place to my wife (Amanda), son (Macksen), and I. We loved being a Falcon and living in the community. We are very appreciative of the opportunity afforded to us by Dr. Thomas LoBasso and Will Dunne to be the head coach at Daytona State College. We believe the future is bright for Daytona State basketball and look forward to pulling for the Falcons! Thank you to the community for opening their collective arms and welcoming us so warmly. This decision was a very difficult one for us, we created so many special relationships that will last a lifetime. However, the opportunity to re-join Coach Marlin's staff, in Louisiana, was an opportunity we simply could not pass on. I wish everyone at Daytona State all the best, GO FALCONS!"

Daytona State College has initiated a national search to find the next head coach for the men's basketball program.
