A Year in Review for the Falcons

The Falcons had a very successful year on their respective fields, courts, and courses in the 2025-2026 athletic year. All together, the Falcons took home three National Championships, three National Runners Up, National 3rd Place, two District Championships, four Region 8 Championships, and two Conference Championships. 11 of 12 teams made it to the post season.

First up was Women's Soccer in the FCSAA/Region 8 Tournament on the campus of Miami Dade College. They defeated Polk State College 5-0 to move on to the Championship game. A day later, they knocked off Miami Dade 1-0 with a goal in the 71st minute and were able to hold on until the end.

Next was the Men's and Women's FCSAA/Region 8 Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, FL. The Men scored 24 points, boosting them to their 6th straight FCSAA/Region 8 Championship. The Women scored 26 points, leading them to their third FCSAA/Region 8 Championship.

Men's Soccer, seeded #1 for the FCSAA/Region 8 tournament, went straight to the championship game where they bested Region 8 rivals Eastern Florida State College 2-1, with all three goals coming in the 2nd half, winning the FCSAA/Region 8 Championship for the fourth time.

Women's Soccer then traveled to Lancaster, SC to play in the Southeast District Tournament. The Falcons routed USC Sumter 19-0 in the Semi-Finals, sending them to the Championship game the next day. The Championship Game would go scoreless in regular time, but the Falcons only needed 3 extra minutes in overtime to secure the Southeast District Championship and an automatic berth to the NJCAA National Tournament for the second year in a row.

Men's Soccer also traveled to Lancaster, SC a week later to play in a single game for the Southeast District Championship against USC Lancaster. The Lancers scored just 3 minutes into the game and the Falcons did not reply until the 70th minute to tie it up. Neither team were able to get the upper hand, so they went into overtime. In the 107th minute, the Falcons scored on a long ball to clinch the Southeast District Championship and a berth to the NJCAA National Championship that would be hosted by Daytona State.

On the same day, despite the flurries and snow on the ground, Women's Cross Country ran at the NJCAA National Championship and placed the highest the program ever has, taking home 3rd place.

On the screen, the Esports Rocket League team took home 2nd place in the Rocket League Fall National Championship.

Being at the NJCAA Men's Soccer National Tournament was not a new feeling for the Daytona State College men's soccer program. But the tournament being hosted on their home turf was. This proved to be an incredible advantage for the team as they made it out of pool play for the first time in program history. They then went on the beat Mohave College in the semi-finals to make it to the Championship Game. They eventually fell to Indian Hills 1-0.

Coming off a National Championship in their first trip to the tournament, the Daytona State Women's Soccer team was undefeated and seeded #1. They flew through pool play, winning 6-0 and 4-1. In the semi-final game, Cowley County took the Falcons to overtime, where they needed less than two minutes to score the game winner. In the Championship game, defense was the star of the night as both teams went scoreless through two over time periods. After the Falcons scored the go-ahead penalty kick, the Falcon goalkeeper made the game winning save to win the program it's second and back-to-back National Championships.

With the fall sports complete, the winter sports started to shine. The Men's Basketball team won the conference for the fourth year in a row. The women's basketball team won the conference for the first time since 2018, winning 17 more games than last year.

In the Spring, the Esports Rocket League team made a comeback, taking home the National Championship once again.

Women's Flag Football traveled to Chicago to compete in the NJCAA National Tournament. In pool play, the beat the host school, College of Dupage and Roxbury Community College 20-0 and 32-0, respectively. In the semi-final game, the Falcons beat host College of DuPage again 52-0. They then met Florida Gateway College for a rematch of last year's championship game. They fell to the Wolves 53-13, but took home 2nd place in their 2nd year of the program.

Last on the calendar was Women's Golf. After falling just short in the FCSAA/Region 8 championship, the Falcons came back stronger on a very challenging course in Illinois. Daytona State and Odessa traded first and second place standings throughout the tournament and the Falcons clinched the win on the final round of play, coming back from a two-stroke deficit to edge out Odessa by a single stroke. This marks the program's 12th National Championship title.
