--Daytona Beach, FL
There were four Falcons named to the FCSAA JUCO Classic roster which will take place on October 13th at Publix Field in Lakeland, FL.
Tyler Borton, Fort Myers HS, LHP
6'2" 208lbs
Tyler lead the Falcon pitching staff last year as a freshman with 62 innings over 15 appearances. The Fort Myers native improved his strength and durability over the sumemr months and will look to increase the inning count this year for the Falcon pitching staff. Borton has showed improved command with his off-speed pitches this Fall. This will aid in his ability to navigate lineups multiple times during an outing. He has also shown a fastball velocity around 90mph which is an increase from last spring. Following Tyler's freshman year he was named a Second Team NJCAA Academic All-American and a FCSAA First Team All-Academic selection. Borton was asked what it was like when he first heard the news that he would be starting the FCSAA Juco Classic on the mound?
He responded, "Feel blessed and honored ready to keep pushing forward towards the next goal."
Brett Corbitt, Eagle View Academy, 1B
6'4" 234lbs
Brett spent time as a part time left-handed hitter to start the season. He then saw time at 1B and consistent at bats in the middle of the Falcon lineup. The Callahan, FL native put together a ten-game hitter streak over the course of March. Corbitt finished the year with a .311 batting average. Corbitt has shown up to start his sophomore fall and has done nothing but hit. He has shown power to both power alleys in scrimmages and fall games. Following his freshman year he was named a 1st Team NJCAA Academic All-American and a FCSAA All-Academic Team selection. Brett, the country music fan and singer, was asked what it means to get the opportunity to play at Joker Marchant in Lakeland?
He responded, "It is humbling and also rewarding, but it is just the start of what I have left to accomplish in this beautiful game of baseball."
William "Waz" Rollings, Providence HS, INF
5'10 185lbs
Waz spent time as a utility infielder during his freshman season. He started a game at each infield position over the course of his freshman season. The Jacksonville, FL native, came on strong in the month of April and post six hits over the course of three games. The Falcon team was able to win two of the three games. Rollings had 91 at bats over 31 appearances. Rollings has been the veteran in the infielder group this Fall and has spent time at second base and shortstop. Rollings was asked what does it mean for you to be selected to participate in the FCSAA Juco Classic?
He responded, "Feels great, it’s the result of a lot of hard work and dedication. I’m excited to compete against some of the best guys in the state and to be able to represent Daytona State.”
Peyton Underwood, Bishop Hartley HS, Catcher
6'4" 225lbs
Peyton spent much of his freshman season as the third catcher on the roster. The left-handed hitting catcher displayed some power in his spring season when he took a fastball off the right field score board in the middle of March against Polk State. The Columbus, OH native, contributed to neutrilizing the opponents running game with his ability to catch and throw the baseball. This Fall he has shown up stronger and is showing pop times to second base at or under two seconds. Peyton is also having more success at the plate in early scrimmages and Fall games driving the ball to both gaps. Peyton, the former HS quarterback in Ohio, was asked what it means to get to play in an enviornment like TigerTown coming from Ohio?
He responded, "It feels amazing. It was one of my biggest goals coming in here, so it feels great to have accomplished that."
