In a thrilling Region 8 showdown between two nationally ranked programs, Daytona State College stunned #2 Eastern Florida State College with a commanding 3-2 victory on Sunday evening.
The Titans struck first in the 38th minute, capitalizing on a counterattack finished by Joao Loureiro to take a 1-0 lead.
With two minutes remaining in the first half, the Falcons earned a penalty kick, and Josue Youta calmly converted from the spot to level the score at 1-1 heading into halftime.
The Falcons came out firing in the second half. In the 50th minute, Kayoum M'Bamba linked up with Youta, who doubled his tally with a powerful left-footed strike to give Daytona State a 2-1 advantage. The momentum continued in the 67th minute when Bismark Ayamba struke a freekick from 25 yards to extend the lead to 3-1.
