Bio

Relatively new to the sport, Andrew ran one season at Mainland High School before joining the Falcons inaugural roster in the fall of 2018.  At Mainland, he was an accomplished basketball player who decided to run cross country for his senior year.  With little training, he progressively got stronger throughout the season and ended up competing for the #1 slot on the team.  He qualified for the district and regional meets that year.  But due to his team’s success on the basketball court, he got a late start for track and only ran in a handful of meets.  When Coach Judy Wilson met Andrew that year, she saw an athlete who would turn into a runner.  “Andrew has persistence, he’s focused, coachable, and works extremely hard.  He has a bright future with running.  It was a smart decision on his part to take up the sport.”

After a good summer of training, he came out strong for the Falcons, finishing the top runner in the first four meets of the season.  He was setting the standard for the rest of the squad that would eventually see him place 7th at the Region 8 Championships in Tallahassee and his team take home the team title.  The first for the school in their first season!

Most people would believe that to be a college athlete, one must have trained and competed in that sport for years.  Two local athletes are proving that entering the game late, doesn’t mean you can’t make the three point shot, or hit the home run when it matters most.
