The Daytona State men's cross country squad heads to Huntsville, Alabama for the Southern Showcase on Friday, September 13th. The race wll be held at John Hunt Cross Country Park, one of the nations premiere cross country courses. Fifty eight teams from across the southeast will line up for the men's 8000 meter race at 7:30am CST, followed by the women's race at 8:30am CST. The fourth ranked Falcons will run their first 8000 meter race of the season and are primed to take on Florida junior college teams Pasco Hernando State College and Eastern Florida State College. Led by NJCAA National Runner of the Week Evan Casterline and All American Joel Jean, the Falcons will look to working on bridging the gap between their top two runners and next five runners. "In a cross country race, having a small time gap between the first and fifth, or even seventh, runners is a huge advantage for a team. We had a big gap at the UCF meet a couple of weeks ago and we need to work on that as the season goes on.", commented Coach Judy Wilson, now in her seventh season with the Falcons. The Falcons will be looking for help up front from sophomore Isaac Morrison who Wilson sees as a crucial connection between the top two front runners and the next group of Falcons, made up of sophomores Zeniel Lizardo and Pedro Zapata and a loaded freshmen class.
