Daytona State College used an explosive early offensive attack to power past Hillsborough Community College, securing an 11-3 run-rule victory.
The Falcons struck first in the opening inning when Azlynn Gomes delivered an RBI single to score Juleah Patterson for a 1-0 lead. Daytona State broke the game open in the second inning, scoring five runs on a mix of clutch hitting and defensive miscues by Hillsborough. Aurielle Reavis highlighted the inning with a two-RBI single, while Gomes added an RBI double and Ashley Bert drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 6-0.
Hillsborough responded in the third inning as Angelica Castro delivered a three-RBI double to cut the deficit to 6-3.
