Daytona State Battles in 66-59 Win Over Florida SouthWestern

Daytona State picked up a hard-fought 66–59 win over Florida SouthWestern State on Monday, using defense and rebounding to grind out another important conference win. The Falcons held the Bucs to 35.6% shooting from the field and limited them to just 21 made field goals. The matchup was back-and-forth deep into the fourth, but Daytona State’s defensive effort and late-game execution helped them finish the job.
Lamiyah Hogans led the way offensively with 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including 1-of-2 from three and a perfect 4-of-4 at the line, consistently making plays when Daytona State needed a bucket. Calise Chisholm chipped in 7 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, while Jaeden Williams added 8 points and 4-of-4 free-throw shooting. Khalise Vidal impacted the game all over the floor, finishing with 5 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals, and Jayda Scorza provided a big effort off the bench with 12 points and 4 boards.
The Falcons also got key minutes from Catalina Roco and Kendall Ruise, who each chipped in 7 points. As a team, Daytona State went 18-of-23 at the free-throw line and forced 22 turnovers, leaning on their pressure and composure late to close out the seven-point win.
The Falcons move to 13-2 on the season and 5-0 in conference play. They will play their next conference game at home versus Hillsborough on Wednesday, January 14th.
