Daytona State Secures First Conference Victory at Miami Dade

Daytona State College opened conference play on Wednesday night, knocking off Miami Dade College 87–79 on the road in a fast-paced, high-scoring battle. After trailing 21–18 after the first quarter, the Falcons locked in on both ends, outscoring the Sharks 31–16 in the second and 27–18 in the third to build a lead they would not give back despite a late Miami Dade push.
Daytona State’s balance and ball movement were on full display, as the Falcons finished with 25 assists on 31 made field goals and knocked down 12 threes as a team. Jayda Scorza led the starters with 14 points, while Azzariah Styles brought in 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists. Calise Chisholm added 9 points and 7 rebounds, and Lamiyah Hogans contributed 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.
The bench once again played a huge role, combining for 41 points. Khalise Vidal sparked the Falcons with 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Keira Mackinnon brought in 10 points, Catalina Roco chipped in 8 points and 3 rebounds, and Ceylone Brooks added 6 points. Daytona State also controlled the glass with 48 total rebounds, helping them withstand a push from Miami Dade in the fourth quarter and close out their first conference win of the season.
The Falcons move to 9-1 on the season and will be back in action on Saturday, December 13, where they will face Tallahassee State at home.
