Daytona Beach, FL – No. 1 overall seed and 2024 Regular Season Champions Daytona State defeated No. 4 seed Polk State 2-0 to return to the Region 8 Tournament Finals.
The Falcons (12-3) advance to the final match on, October 27 at 7 p.m. EST at the Daytona State Soccer Stadium. They will face No. 2 seed Eastern Florida.
Daytona State scored their first goal of the match as Shaneil Buckley scored her fourteenth goal of the season with assists from Jimena Castro in the 15th minute for an early 1-0 lead. The Falcons outshot the Eagles 6-0 in the first half and carried the lead after the first 45 minutes.
In the 70th minute, Daytona State would put the game out of reach on a shot just outside the 6 from Jada Clarke for her third of the season.
The Falcons outshot the Eagles 9-2 in the second half. Freshman and Region 8 Goalkeeper of the Year Julianna Trujillo tallied one save in goal for Daytona State.
