Thrilling Semifinal Victory
In the semifinals on November 21, the Falcons faced off against the top-seeded Iowa Western Community College in a match for the ages. Iowa Western struck first in the 20th minute, but Valeria Vazquez responded with a crucial equalizer 10 minutes later. The Reivers regained the lead in the 83rd minute, but with just 19 seconds left on the clock, Jimena Castro scored a dramatic goal to send the game into overtime.
After two scoreless overtime periods, the game went to penalty kicks. DSC goalkeeper Julianna Trujillo proved to be the hero, making two critical saves and stepping up to score the winning penalty in the seventh frame, sealing the Falcons' place in the finals.
