The Daytona State Women's Cross Country team will head to Valdosta, Georgia on Friday, September 3rd for the Border Clash hosted by Valdosta State University. The Falcons will travel veteran runners Harleigh Crist, Angel Khrino, and Nathaly Abastida, along with freshmen Kennedy Arterburn and Makayla Shores. The last trip to Valdosta for the Falcons was in 2019 where they placed 6th overall. The team competition includes 16 teams, including four Region 8 rivals and strong NCAA Division 2 teams such as Valdosta State, Flagler, University of Tampa, and Florida Southern. The race distance for the women is the traditional 5 kilometers, which is equal to 3.1 miles. Coach Judy Wilson, in her fourth year for the Falcons, says the goal is to work as a team and start to form a race strategy among the team. "Harleigh is in a position to run near the front of the race, and then each of our other runners will be looking to run within a certain time of her. The goal is to close that gap throughout the season." Catch the results at the link below.
