Bio
Shannon Hickey Jones just happened to be running in the same race as former Falcon Jenny Enslin when they struck up a conversation. It seemed that Jones was thinking about going back to school to finish her degree and start a bachelor's degree. After speaking with coaches and admissions counselors, Jones realized the opportunities before her. A former soccer player and cross country runner from Winter Park High School, Jones is no stranger to the sport.

Why did you choose Daytona State College: "Daytona State offered me a great opportunity to continue my education as a collegiate athlete. Being an older athlete, as well as a mother, I’m an untraditional student athlete. Daytona State made it possible for me to have a second chance in running at this level."
Coach's Comments: After earning Daytona State’s first female All-American spot with a 4th place finish at the NJCAA meet, Jones is looked at to be in the hunt at the NJCAA nationals this year as well. Running for the Falcons has allowed Jones to achieve her goal of completing her bachelor’s degree in Supervision Management.
