Falcons Head to UCF Invitational

The Daytona State men's and women's cross country teams head to the University of Central Florida today for a match up with several NCAA Division 1 teams and Region 8 rivals.  The 5000 meter race kicks off at 5:30pm for the women and 6:45pm for the men near the softball stadium on the Central Florida campus in Orlando.  The women will race junior college Region 8 rivals Pasco Hernando, Lake Sumter, South Florida State, and College of Central Florida.  The men will race a combined field of NCAA Division 1 teams including the University of Florida, University of South Florida, Florida State University, Stetson, Jacksonville Unviersity, and Bethune Cookman and junior college teams Lake Sumter, Pasco Hernando, and Seminole State.  

The Falcon men are led by All American Joel Jean and All Region Evan Casterline.  "Both Joel and Evan had a good summer of training and are looking to improve on last year.  Joel really started shining at the end of the season, and Evan had only one year of high school running, so he has taken a big step forward in a short period of time." Coach Judy Wilson commented.  The women's team is led by sophomore Alison Boyle, who also saw marked improvement from summer training.  "Ali is just in a different place now as compared to last year at this time." commented Wilson.
