Daytona State women's cross country kicked off the 2025 season in good form at the Florida Intercollegiate race on Friday night at Cecil Field golf course. Led by freshman Emma Turner, the Falcons finished 9th overall out of 14 teams on a hot and humid night. But that did not stop the Falcons from turning in a solid performance. Turner ran a personal best of 19:39 for the 5k distance. She was followed by sophomore Brianna Crawford who crossed the line in a personal best time of 20:32. Freshmen Kyleigh Halloran and Kennedy Flores rose to the occasion in their first cross country race for the Falcons running strong races and were the fifth and seventh junior college runners to cross the line. "When we go up against big school like Florida, FSU, UCF, USF and the like, it is tough sometimes to not get lost in the crowd in these races. But we just focused on running a strong first race and doing the best with the conditions. I think we have a great group this year and it will be fun to see what happens." commented head coach Judy Wilson. Rounding out the top five for the Falcons was sophomore Tiffany Cox runing 21:28 and finishing in the ninth junior college position. Up next for the Falcons will be the Border Clash on September 5th, hosted by Valdosta State University.
