Daytona State Women’s Soccer Wins Second Straight National Championship
Daytona Beach, FL-Daytona State won the 2025 NJCAA Division I women's soccer championship, the program's 2nd straight national title.
The #1 seeded Falcons defeated fellow No. 3 seed Arizona Western, 5-4 in penalty kicks, on Saturday night at Advance Soccer Complex in Enid, OK. Reese Garcia Roman netted the final kick with goalkeeper, Julianna Trujillo making two saves in penalties to earn the victory.
Shaneil Buckley, Trujillo, Susu Roberts, Sienna Gillespie and Garcia Roman picked up NJCAA All-Tournament team honors while Buckley earned Most Valuable Player and Most Outstanding Offensive Player and Trujillo was named the Most Outstanding Defensive Player.
Head Coach,Hope Clark earned Coach of the Tournament.
Trujillo is the first Falcon goalkeeper to win most outstanding defensive player in 2025 and most valuable player of the tournament in 2024.
Head coach Clark becomes the second female coach in NJCAA D1 women's soccer history to win back-to-back national championships.
This is Daytona State's second NJCAA title. The Falcons after winning the National Championship in 2024 as the No. 7 seed found itself in the No.1 seed in every National poll this year. The Falcons entered the 2025 national championship as the No. 1 seed and outlasted all their opponents.
Daytona State faced the No. 12 seed Cochise College in the first round of pool play winning 6-0. They would then face the No. 8 seeded Mustangs of Monroe University taking that match 4-1. With the Falcons advancing to the semifinal match as the highest seed they met the No. 5 seed Cowley Community College winning 2-1 in OT.
Daytona State would then advance for the second time in a row to the finals for a rematch against Arizona Western. The Falcons saw Arizona Western in the Championship game in 2024 winning in overtime. This year the battle would continue as the teams went into double overtime at 0-0. Like any National Championship should be the drama would continue as they entered penalty kicks.
The Falcons wrap up their remarkable 2025 campaign with a perfect 20-0 (6-0 FCSAA Region8) record, marking the 1st season in school history they have gone undefeated.
Daytona State were the regular season FCSAA Region 8 champions, FCSAA Region 8 tournament champions, NJCAA Southeast District champions and the 2025 NJCAA D1 Women's Soccer National Champions.
