The Falcon women's cross country team heads to the University of Florida this Saturday, September 11th, for the Mt Dew Invitational. The women's race set for 8:30am will follow the men's race set for 7:55am. This race will be 1000 meters shorter than the traditional 5000 meter race. "It's typical to run a shorter distance at the beginning of the season, and with the hotter temperatures in Florida, it really is a welcome change sometimes, commented Falcon head coach Judy Wilson. Participating teams include a wide range of competitive levels, from NCAA Division 1 University of Florida, to NCAA Div 2, NAIA, and NJCAA.
The 14th ranked Falcons will be lead by FCSSA Region 8 Runner of the Week Harleigh Crist. First year runner Juliet St Angelo will be making her first competitive experience and is projected to help Crist lead this year's team. "Juliet had a good summer of training and has had some solid workouts so far.' commented Wilson. Other runners in the line-up are Nathaly Abastida, Makayla Shores, Angel Khrino, Kennedy Arterburn, and Audrey Moros. The Falcons will be looking to use this race as another step toward getting back into race mode after a long summer. The meet will take place at the Mark Bostick Golf Course on the UF - Gainesville campus.
